Stewardship Project - Dog Valley

We are really excited to be working with the US Forest Service to be official stewards of Dog Valley, Humboldt - Toiyabe National Forest. The stewardship includes more than just litter removal, but also a more hands-on approach.

One of our priorities will be the kiosks. They are in need of repair/paint or both

We will also be watching the area for graffeti. When found, we will cover/clean it to the best of our ability. We will also photo document any new graffeti to the US Forest Service.

Being stewards also means reporting /photo documenting and removing new illegal dumping in Dog Valley. Illegal dumping can take the form of leftover targets, construction wastes and illegally cut trees.

Dog Valley is having increasing problems with unauthorized trails being created. People will either move border barriers, rock barriers or just make their own trails across the land. Some of these unauthorized trails are over gas lines and electrical lines that are not supposed to be disturbed. Some people are even driving motorized vehicles up on top of Crystal Peak, not only not prohibited, but very dangerous.

We will also be working with the USFS to repair and replace Park trail/road Markers. We will be adding our own decals to show the pride we have in being stewards for this beautiful area.

Our first Workday is 6/13/2026. After I will post some "after" photos that goes with these "before" shots. We are proud to have funding through these 2 wonderful organizations: Polaris and Extreme Terrain. Their financial support helps us in our stewardships.
